When your box arrives:

All pre-orders (Sept 14-25) ship by September 30, 2026
Any late or waitlist orders ship on our regular cadence — orders received by Friday ship the following Wednesday

You'll get a shipping confirmation email with tracking when your box ships and a text when it's out for delivery.

Delivery details

Adult signature, delivery attempts, and what to do if you're not home

Adult signature required. Someone 21 or older must be home to sign for your delivery. This is a legal requirement for wine shipments.
How many delivery attempts? UPS makes up to 2 delivery attempts(often on consecutive days)
If you won't be home: Email us at hello@modernwine.com as soon as possible, and we can hold your shipment for a week or two until you're able to be home.
If both attempts fail before we can intercept: Your package will be returned to sender. In that case, we issue a partial refund equal to the retail price minus the actual return shipping cost (which may exceed the $29.99 or $39.99 originally charged, depending on your zone). Email us at hello@modernwine.com and we'll walk you through it.

Returns details

Cancellations, refunds, and what to do if wine arrives damaged

Cancellations: You can cancel your pre-order for a full refund within 24 hours of placing your order. Email hello@modernwine.com with your order number.
After 24 hours: We begin procuring wine for your batch and cancellations are no longer possible.
Damaged shipments: If your wine arrives with broken bottles or visible damage, email us at hello@modernwine.com within 48 hours with a photo. We'll replace the damaged bottles or issue a refund at your choice.
Returns (unopened): Because we sell alcohol, we're unable to accept returns of wine, opened or unopened, except in cases of damaged shipments or failed delivery.

Serving & Storing your wines

Which wines to chill, how to store, how long they last

Chill these three before serving:

Sun Moon Rising 'Libra' White Blend
Frisk 'Prickly' Riesling
Filipa Pato '3B' Brut Nature Rosé

The other three (Odfjell Merlot, End of Nowhere 'Phantom Limb' Zinfandel, Castello di Tassarolo 'Orsola') are best at cool room temperature. If they're warm, pop them in the fridge for 15-20 minutes before opening.

How to store a bottle you haven't finished:

Seal tightly with the original cork (stained side down), the screw cap, or a rubber wine stopper
Keep it upright
Refrigerate (yes, even reds — let them warm up for 20 minutes before drinking)

How long opened wine lasts:

Sparkling (Filipa Pato 3B): 1-2 days with a stopper (your Early Bird stopper is perfect for this!)
White and rosé: 3-5 days in the fridge, sealed
Red: 3-5 days, sealed and refrigerated
